At East Tennessee Rowing (ETRowing), we believe rowing can change lives, that fitness and overall wellness are achievable goals for everyone. ETRowing is a 501(c)(3) that exists to promote the Olympic sport of rowing in the Tennessee foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. By providing the facilities, equipment, coaching, and organization to implement a whole-body approach to training on and off water.
Our members are from varying age, backgrounds, athletic abilities, and experience levels drawn together by a common passion. We offer monthly memberships to the public, so that the community may take advantage various youth and adult rowing activities, small group training classes, and personal training, that appeals to both men and women alike.
The idea of East Tennessee Rowing started with Roger and Liz Hubbard. Roger a Maryville native, businessman, and rowing enthusiast that, laid the club's foundation through personal investment and time to create the Smoky Mountain Rowing Club in 2001 on the shoreline of Fort Loudoun Lake. Seeing the opportunity for local youth through rowing, SMRC established the Maryville High School Women’s Rowing Team in 2006, becoming co-ed in 2008. In 2009 Maryville High School Rowing transitioned into East Tennessee Rowing Organization, to allow for broader opportunities for more youth and adults the Blount, Knox and Loudon Counties.
