East Tennessee Rowing host an open house as part of National Learn to Row Day the first Saturday in June. This is a no cost walk-up event open to the public that requires no experience to try.
Time: 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Location: 3452 Louisville Road [view map] An easy 20-minute commute, or less, from West or South Knox County, Lenoir City, and anywhere in Blount County, our Boathouse.
Members of the East Tennessee Rowing will offer tours of the facilities, ergometer (rowing machine) demonstrations and instructions, hands-on lessons on the dock, and rowing on the beautiful Fort Loudon Lake. Clinics will be held every 30 minutes. Experienced rowers will assist in all demonstrations and activities. Participants must be at least 12 years old and will be asked to sign a waiver thus making them “members” of East Tennessee Rowing for the day. Refreshments will be provided.
Competitive and recreational rowers range in age from 12 to 90 so it’s never too early or too late to take up the sport. The goal of East Tennessee Rowing is to introduce and promote rowing as a lifelong activity in foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. Countless folks of all ages have taken advantage of our open house opportunity to visit our boathouse, meet with coaching staff and active rowers, learn about our programs, and give rowing a try. Bring a friend or two and have a great time on the lake experiencing something new.
